Our Kirkland Signature Skipjack Tuna Steak in Brine is responsibly caught in the rich waters of the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean off the coast of Ecuador and Peru. This is a high quality “solid pack”, or a steak of tuna with few small flaky pieces. All natural with no additives or fillers, and never mixed with other species like yellowfin or bigeye tuna which are overfished in some areas. Our Skipjack is free school caught, or caught without the use fish aggregating devices (FADs) that can have negative impacts on the marine ecosystem.
Manufactured by the Seafman Cannery in Manta, Ecuador. This historic facility was established in 1966 making it one of first and longest running tuna processors in the country. Seafman employs over 1,500 workers, provides transparency with full traceability of supply, and leads a number of initiatives to protect the environment, conserve resources and ensure employee´s rights are respected and protected. As a result, Seafman has been recognized as an “Eco-efficient” Company by the Ecuadorian Government.
